Mission
Its mission is to promote and carry out cultural activities
in order to contribute to the cultural enrichment of our society
and to reinforce the ties of friendship between the peoples
of the United States of America and the Dominican Republic.
ASSISTANTy
Organs
The Cultural Department sponsors important cultural programs,
such as the “ICDA Workshop Theater”, under the
direction of Professor Jorge Santiago, the “Dominico-Americano
Mixed Voices Chorale”, directed by Professor Viterbo
Peña, and the “Julio Alberto Hernandez Men’s
Choir”, directed by Professor Ramón Eladio Restituyo.
Our cultural programs include a wide range of presentations
every year, both Dominican and foreign, staged for different
audiences. These groups are made up of employees of the different
departments and students from the different educational programs
of the ICDA.
The program of activities we offer all year round covers the
most varied expositions of the plastic arts, exhibits, concerts,
plays, ballets, graduations, student pageants, lectures, courses,
art shows, seminars, and conferences of social and cultural
interest, organized by the ICDA or presented by persons or
by institutions that rent our facilities at affordable prices.
Our
Facilities
Over our 55 years of existence, we have managed to combine
the surroundings perfectly: Solidly built modern buildings,
and the exquisite natural setting of our interior gardens.
Patrick J. Hughson Auditorium
The Auditorium is located in the Cultural Complex, on
Abraham Lincoln Avenue at Correa y Cidrón. It is a
real theater, with wall to wall carpeting, and can hold 300
spectators in comfortable seats with foldaway tables.
The auditorium has a wonderful stage, which measures 40 feet
by 20 feet, the perfect size for plays or ballets, both professional
and amateur. It also has state of the arts equipment for lighting,
sound, and curtains; it also has dressing rooms, rest rooms,
cabin services and stage machinery.
We also possess the most modern in audiovisual projection
equipment, an emergency power plant with automatic transfer,
and central air conditioning, as well as parking and security
facilities.
The
patios
“Spanish”
and “Frontal” are two magnificent places to hold
the receptions, toasts, and “coffee breaks” of
all events celebrated on campus.
The
Art Gallery
This
was built only recently in the Administrative Building, and
takes up 233.67 square meters. It is an excellent facility,
completely conditioned with the most sophisticated equipment
of the highest quality for sound and lighting. It also has
special dividing panels, and is meant for expositions of pictures
and sculptures at a professional level.
Multiple
Use Assembly Halls
We
have several assembly halls, two of which are located in Building
E, in the part that belongs to UNICDA and to the ETS. One
of them measures 152.10 square meters, and the other 71.40
square meters. In the Administrative Building, we also have
the “Registration Hall”, with an area of 186.83
square meters.
These
meeting rooms can comfortably hold between 60 and 120 persons.
They are meant for courses, company seminars, art exhibits,
and the most varied cultural activities.
Each
meeting hall is completely equipped with moveable screens,
independent sound, and the best facilities for technical and
logistic support.
Nuestros
usuarios pueden contar con todas estas opciones, para la celebración
de sus eventos, en un lugar céntrico, de fácil
acceso y seguridad permanente.

All year round, the Cultural Department offers courses in
Popular Guitar, Painting for children and adults, and acting
